Fall for Greenville: A Review

Fall for Greenville, one of the largest food festivals in the Southeast, is one of the highlights of our year. They have 5 or 6 music stages but we go for the food. We have been back in the South for four years. Some years we don’t make it due to our work schedules but this year we found time on Saturday.

I prefer to go early afternoon because I like to see what I’m eating and it is too crowded to be out at night when visibility is low. As a planner, I like Google docs and make lists of must visit spots so we don’t waste time in long lines. Plan your work. Work your plan.

We spent about $30 in tickets. Most of the main items were 8-10 tickets.

Here is our review of this year’s offerings.

The Orient on Main

Hibachi Beef-decent, not as flavorful as I like but okay

Luna Rosa Gelato Cafe

Sweet Tea-cheapest tea available, pretty good

Birthday Cake Gelato-exactly what Funfetti cake batter tastes like

Larkins on the River

Beef Tenderloin with Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Gravy-not as good as last year, very efficient + fast service (See the top pic below from this year and compare it to the pic under it. There was definitely less seasoning. Also, why do I have a picture of my food from last year? lol)

Mac’s Speed Shop

Mac and Cheese-very filling, decent for not being my family recipe (I am always disappointed but I still try mac and cheese anyway)

The Nomadik Few

Shave Ice-help yourself to as much flavored syrup as you want, cash only, best shave ice I have had outside of Hawaii (So good!)

Kickin’ Pig BBQ Pig Truck

Pulled Pork Sandwich-very good meat and perfect BBQ sauce

The Pound Cake Man

Pumpkin Pound Cake with Icing-longest line of all time (25-30 minute wait time), very moist/freshly baked cake (not as dense as some), very good flavor, out-of-the-oven warmth was a plus

The weather was perfect this year! Good weather + good food = a great weekend. We’ll be back next year!
