My husband and I love Savannah. We honeymooned there in 2014 and try to make it back once a year at least. When we head off on our trips, my modus operandi is to hop on Facebook for restaurant suggestions en route to the city. We like to live on the edge! While unorthodox, it usually results in a great experience. Below are our favorite spots.
Breakfast: Two Cracked Eggs – River Street

The wait was long (there isn’t much seating inside) but this Peach French Toast Skillet was so worth it. We might go earlier next time to beat the line. Yum!
Lunch: Public Kitchen & Bar
We were seated on the top patio roof. Savannah is known for humidity and oppressive heat but it was a mild and breezy day. I had a Chicken Salad Pita which was quite good. Chris had a Bison Burger which he enjoyed. The ambiance of the inside of the restaurant made me wish we could go back for dinner another time. Solid midday option!
Snack: Leopold’s Ice Cream
Leopold’s reputation is known nationwide partly due to the current owner’s, Stratton Leopold, ties to Hollywood. The walls of the family friendly establishment are adorned in movie posters. After leaving the business to seek his fortune in Hollywood, Leopold rose through the ranks to become vice president of production at Paramount Pictures. After a successful career producing movies such as Mission: Impossible III, he returned to continue his father’s legacy. The continual line down the street is a testament to the love for this local favorite.
Dinner: Vic’s on the River
See my previous post here. Suffice it to say, we highly recommend Vic’s. The views, proximity to the river and excellent food were the highlight of our last trip.
Let me know in the comments if you have restaurant suggestions for future trips to the oldest city in Georgia!
