Eating Our Way Through the USA: Cafe Du Monde (French Quarter, New Orleans)
Cafe Du Monde is the place to go for fresh beignets. Beignets are comparable to the Portuguese/Hawaiian malasadas. The key is to eat them hot.
The powdered sugar gets everywhere so I recommend eating them outside (i.e. not on the road). A Starbucks Happy Hour chai tea frappacino and a hot beignet = perfection.
