Eating Our Way Through the USA: Lockhart’s BBQ

Eating Our Way Through the USA: Lockhart Smokehouse (Dallas, Texas)-Bishop District)

There were signs all over the walls noting this spot’s many awards. It did not disappoint. It is one of Chris’s top 3 BBQ joints ever. He lived in Kansas City so he is a barbecue aficionado.  That may have been the best brisket that I have ever had in my life.

We had beef ribs, brisket, sausage, and sliced bread. You buy it by weight and they chop/weigh it right in front of you. I tried Big Red soda too. I wasn’t a fan. It was too sweet for me and I am a candyaholic.

Pros
Walking in (per Chris)
Award winning recipe
Spicy BBQ sauce
Best brisket ever
Fast service
Quality meat
Great ribs
Rustic, Americana decor

Cons
No sweet tea
Not many sides-they were out of Mac and Cheese
Messy but that comes with the territory (towels on the table type messy)
Sausage was okay

Chris would still be there eating if we didn’t have to go home.
