Chris wanted to get out-of-town for the weekend. We debated between Wilmington, NC and Charleston, SC throughout the week. We (I) settled on Charleston because I love the city and we have went in August (What were we thinking?) in the past.

The weather was beautiful-sunny, cool, and clear skies. I don’t know why we ever went in the summer before…That dripping sweat life is not for me. Ever the photo taker, I took my Canon DSLR. Since I have a lot of pictures of the Holy City from past trips, I focused on doors, windows, and flowers.

On Friday, we checked out the neighborhoods around the Battery. I love old houses and architectural details (and pastels). Chris is a good sport about my obsession.

Note to self: Make reservations in Charleston. We struggled to find a spot to eat that night. Fleet’s Landing had an 1.45 minute wait. Not today! We were able to walk into Toast and be seated because it is known for breakfast. I’ll review their sweet tea chicken in another post.

We are Priceline aficionado’s and scored a modern hotel room at the Marriott. Prices are much more reasonable in the Mt. Pleasant area so we usually stay on that side of the bridge. Side note: I don’t recommend barn doors for bathrooms. It looked cool but it not practical for privacy.

Saturday was a perfect day. We hit the Tanger outlets and I found some great deals at J.Crew and Banana Republic. Chris, the pickier Montgomery, found nothing as per usual.

After checking out all the antique shops on King Street, we checked out The Grand Bohemian art display and took a break in The Mill House.

We made brunch reservations at the famous Poogan’s Porch. Resy.com was great! The send a reminder text and let you know when your table is ready. There was zero wait time. Shrimp and grits = humming good. (In my family, we have a habit of humming when the food is especially good.)

After leaving Charleston, we took the long way back through Georgetown, Murrell’s Inlet, etc. The weather was a little cool for sitting on the beach but we enjoyed a very relaxing weekend. Charleston in the spring is gorgeous!
